Athul Joseph Brisbane Actor

What’s the most interesting workshop you’ve attended?

The most interesting workshop/class I have attended was with Peter Rasmussen. Peter and I always work productively in class and all training sessions in general with Peter are very effective. I would recommend Peter as an acting coach to all actors regardless of skill level.

What was your headshot session like?

The session was incredibly fun and effective because I was in such a productive and positive atmosphere, which allowed me to experiment with a variety of tones and pick the ones that suited me the best.

Where are you studying?

I am currently studying with Peter Rasmussen, who is a wonderful coach that helps me improve my craft and enhance my knowledge of the industry. I am also going to be studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art later in the year and am very excited to begin classes there.

Do you work in film, theatre or both?

I prefer to have a steady balance between film/TV and theatre as they allow me to perform in a variety of different ways.

What do you like about acting the most?

I love all aspects of acting, especially the fact that I have access to playing a variety of different roles, which all have different motivations and morals.

When did you start acting? What got you started?

I started acting around two years ago, through a film/TV acting class in Brisbane City. The first class I ever took will always have a special place in my heart because it was the day that I fell in love with the art of acting and my craft.

What is your strength as an actor?

The biggest strength that I have as an actor is the ability to play a variety of different roles, and the fact that I am confident to approach any role as a performer.

Who do you most admire?

The actors that I most admire are Lilly Van Der Meer. Her positivity always puts a smile on my face and I am always rewatching her role as Xanthe Canning on Neighbours because she is a very skilled and talented performer. I also admire Felix Mallard for his role as Ben Kirk on Neighbours.

If you had a magic wand, what would you do next?

I would use my magic wand to put an end to world hunger and poverty.

Other fun facts about me include:
- I love the colour blue!
- I love watching Daredevil.
- I love nature!
- Louis Litt is my favourite character on Suits.
